Blue Moon Turquoise Sterling Silver Pendant
Blue Moon Turquoise Sterling Silver Pendant
This handcrafted, Native American inspired pendant design features two beautiful blue moon turquoise gemstones. I fabricated this pendant from sterling silver, giving it texture by fusing recycled sterling silver dust on the front and back side. The fine silver bezel was also given the same texture. Additionally the hammered sterling silver extension chain, clasp and the necklace end caps have all been hand fabricated. And finally, all of the handcrafted sterling silver components, in addition to the pendant, were given a gun metal patina for that rusticated finish.
This blue moon turquoise sterling silver pendant is displayed on natural, light brown leather cord. Although I have been on the fence for a while regarding incorporating leather in my jewelry designs, I located this beautiful leather that is ethically sourced from India. I have been assured that no animals were harmed in the making of this leather, as they died of natural causes.
This unique handcrafted blue moon turquoise sterling silver pendant is 2" in length (including the bail) and ~1 3/4" at its widest point. The leather necklace length is adjustable, 17 1/2" to 20".
Blue Moon turquoise comes from the Blue Moon mine located northwest of Tonopah, Nevada. Blue Moon is very hard, high quality turquoise and is very collectible. Blue Moon ranges in color from white to light blue, most often in a matrix of black chert and occasionally with small patches of tan limonite.
