This handcrafted Variscite sterling silver ring was inspired by my love for Native American style jewelry … I have always been drawn to Native American culture, especially Native American jewelry. And this beautiful Variscite gemstone was the perfect focal stone for such a design.

This handmade Variscite sterling silver ring is not for the faint of heart … this is a weighty ring with a substantial variscite ring setting. The split shank sterling silver ring band was forged from 12ga sterling silver and the surface was fused with recycled sterling silver dust, giving it my favorite texture. This texture is also found on the backside of the setting, as well as the fine silver bezel surrounding the stone. The entire ring was given a patina bath and light polish to bring out the texture highlights for that rusticated finish I love.

Variscite is named after "Variscia," the historical name of the Vogtland district in Saxony, Germany, where the gemstone was originally found in 1837. A hydrated aluminum phosphate mineral, variscite is rare and is commonly mistaken for turquoise. Variscite is found in Bolivia, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and in Australia, as well as in the USA in Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

Variscite is a great stone for the heart chakra, helping to heal any emotional issues. This stone is especially helpful if you are feeling full of despair and unable to find hope for the future.
