Changing things up …

Since 2010, when I began my journey as a silversmith, I have always loved designing pieces with a lot of detail. Other than the choice of gemstone, the attention to details are what makes a design and the designer’s style unique.

The handcrafted jewelry / jewelry artist market has become very saturated so it was of utmost importance for me to set myself apart from the masses. Having my own unique design style was something that I focused on from the very start. It took some time, but I finally found what worked for me, my niche. Having always loved texture, I taught myself how to fuse texture to my pieces by fusing sterling silver dust to the surface. I finally found my own unique style. I absolutely loved the results of the texture and my jewelry designs, and my customers loved it as well.

Ok back to my story and back to the point of this post …

In October, 2021, I reluctantly put my bench tools away (read my previous blog post). In December, 2023, after being away from my bench and unable to design jewelry for over two years, I was finally able to do what I love again. After being away from the bench for so long, it took me about two weeks to finally find my groove again.

Three months of designing and my first collection in over two years was finally created. This collection is much simpler than my past design style - the new pieces are minimalistic and petite comparably, and I thoroughly enjoyed designing each piece. Maybe it was just a challenge for me to change things up - regardless, I’m glad I did. One should always take the opportunity to try new things and expand.

I am already pondering what I will come up with for the next collection. For me, the design process is always the most exciting part.
